My Story
After 35 years in a successful career as a higher education administrator I decided to make a change. In my work I focused on student experiences and often dealt with emotional, urgent issues and crises situations. I was burnt out and tired, and was facing some complicated medical issues. I knew I just needed to pause and take some time for self care.
I created an “I’d like to do that someday” list and decided to get to living and stop waiting for a someday that none of us is guaranteed. I’ve been working my way through this bucket list and one experience in particular has been key to my new found passion. I took a course at the Culinary Institute of America and baked with a master baker and fell in love with the process. Since then, I’ve been baking weekly and find myself at ease and focused—zoned, in the flow, locked in. There are stressful moments for sure, but the satisfaction of having a good bake and getting it right is incredibly rewarding. Even better is the tremendous joy I get when someone tastes one of my baked treats. The yumminess of that moment! It’s that moment for me. Cravings of Aurora was born from the yummm!
So here I am now, passionately baking, trying new recipes, and figuring out how to run a business. I’m still tackling my bucket list, but am working on this next chapter at the same time. I invite you to join me on this journey.
